HR Practices Audit

An independent diagnostic that shows where your HR practices support growth and where they are creating operational risk.

Know where to focus first

Growing organisations can accumulate HR processes, policies and tools without a clear view of what is working. The HR Practices Audit gives leadership a practical baseline across ten core practice areas, so you can focus investment on the gaps that affect business performance.

The audit examines Talent Strategy, Talent Assessment, Talent Identification, Succession Management, Talent Development, Performance Management, Talent Retention, HR Technology and Analytics, HR Governance and Compliance, and the wider HR operating model.

Who the audit is for

  • Scaling organisations - 50-1,000 employees: organisations that are building structure and process as informal HR practices stop scaling.
  • Mid-market organisations - 500-1,000 employees: HR teams that need to connect practices, strengthen data and analytics, and build a stronger case for technology investment.
  • Leadership teams: executives and boards that need a clear, shared view of HR capability and priorities.

What the audit assesses

Each practice area is assessed against three factors:

  1. Data and information: the accuracy, objectivity and accessibility of HR data.
  2. Processes, policies and procedures: how clearly processes are defined, adopted and connected.
  3. Tools and technology: whether the current technology stack supports usable, timely insight.

How it works

  1. Run the workshop: key stakeholders complete a structured half-day session, virtually or in person.
  2. Assess the practice areas: participants discuss current maturity across the ten HR practice areas.
  3. Map the gaps: dashboards show relative maturity, priorities and dependencies.
  4. Receive the report and roadmap: the output sets out strengths, gaps and a prioritised sequence of actions linked to business outcomes.
  5. Debrief with leadership: Peopletree Group reviews the findings with your leadership team and agrees the next practical step.

What you receive

You receive a maturity heatmap, detailed practice-area scoring and a prioritised roadmap. The work gives HR and business leaders a common language for deciding what to improve first, where data or process gaps sit, and when a more integrated talent management approach is needed.
