In this case study, we explore how a US based credit union leveraged technology and people data to support their managers in having more impactful data-driven career conversations with their team members.
The case study shows how supporting managers with the right people data can fundamentally change an employees’ experience of the organization and empower them to make more informed career decisions.
Challenge
The credit union’s goal was to establish consistent, high-quality career conversations across the organization. Managers needed a framework and actionable insights to guide discussions, identify growth opportunities, and ensure each conversation was personalized to the employee’s strengths, career goals, and development needs. The challenge lay in pinpointing the right data to drive these conversations and delivering it in a way that facilitated impactful dialogue between managers and employees.
Approach
To address this challenge, we employed our unique 3D approach:
- Diagnose: We conducted a needs assessment to understand the existing challenges in having data-driven career conversations.
- Design: We integrated the company’s talent calibration process, collected behavioral strengths using TalentPrint, and designed a personalized conversation framework.
- Deliver: We equipped managers with structured conversation guidelines and a Past-Present-Future framework to guide meaningful data-driven career conversations.
Solution
Peopletree Group implemented a personalized career conversation framework, grounded in data and driven by insights. Using TalentPrint, we assessed each employee’s skills, behavioral strengths, experiences, and career interests, providing managers with a comprehensive profile for each team member.
The Past-Present-Future framework guided conversations, allowing managers to:

- Discuss Present Roles and Skills: Assess current competencies and performance to understand alignment with career goals.
