What is DataHub?

DataHub is the centralised data layer that sits beneath the Peopletree platform. It collects, structures, and stores talent data from multiple sources - assessment results, performance ratings, succession records, engagement scores, and learning completions - in one governed repository. It is the foundation that makes DataWiz analytics and TAILA AI insights possible.

What data sources can DataHub connect to?

DataHub accepts data in three ways: spreadsheet or file-based uploads (Excel, CSV, JSON), direct database views from your HRIS or other systems, and API integrations with third-party platforms. Most clients start with file-based uploads and move to API connections as the engagement matures. Peopletree handles the data mapping and taxonomy structuring as part of implementation.

Does DataHub replace our HRIS?

No. DataHub is not an HRIS and is not designed to replace one. It is an analytics data layer that sits alongside your existing HR systems. Where your HRIS manages operational HR processes - payroll, leave, contracts - DataHub manages the talent intelligence data that your HRIS was never designed to hold: behavioural profiles, competency gaps, succession readiness, and development progress.

How is data quality managed?

DataHub includes a data governance layer that validates incoming data against a defined taxonomy before it enters the repository. Duplicate records, missing fields, and format inconsistencies are flagged during ingestion. The Peopletree implementation team works with your HR team during setup to define the data standards and resolve any existing quality issues before the first data load.

Who owns the data in DataHub?

You do. All data stored in DataHub remains the property of your organisation. Peopletree does not use client data for any purpose other than delivering the contracted services. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, and can be exported or deleted at any time. DataHub is GDPR and POPIA compliant.

How long does it take to get DataHub live?

Most organisations have DataHub configured and receiving data within two weeks. The timeline depends on the number of data sources and the quality of existing data. If significant data cleaning is required, the implementation team will scope that separately. For organisations deploying DataHub as part of a full TMaaS engagement, it is typically live in the first two weeks of the six to eight week implementation window.

Can DataHub be used without the rest of the Peopletree platform?

DataHub is designed to work as the data foundation for TalentPrint, DataWiz, and TAILA. It can be deployed as a standalone data consolidation layer for organisations that want to centralise their talent data before deciding on analytics or platform tools, but its full value is realised when connected to the rest of the platform.
